Bowls News
Just when it seemed like things were winding down for a break from competitive bowls to enjoy a well-earned rest or social bowling, we have Bowls SA events in full swing with State finals, Champion of Champions and the upcoming Over 60 Pairs competition.
State Triples Finals
On Monday April 29 David Freeman, Bill Lewis and Ryan Wilkins play in the finals of the State Triples at Ascot Park Bowling Club. There are 3 knockouts followed by the final at 6pm. First game is scheduled for 9.30 and if they are successful, they progress. We wish them all the best
Champion of Champions
The event is a knockout format on Wednesday May 1 and Thursday May 2. All the best to our Men’s Singles Club Champion Greg Miller who has entered.
State Over 60s Pairs
Bowls SA have asked our club to conduct the Men’s Over 60 State Pairs on Monday May 6. The group is 48 bowlers (12 rinks). This will be held in conjunction with ladies’ indoor bowls practice with the Bowls SA event using the western end of the clubhouse.
I am seeking someone to meet and greet the bowlers and direct them to the western entrance. In addition, we have one wheelchair bowler who will need to enter the club through the eastern door. Many thanks to the members who have volunteered to assist with this event.

Officials Accreditation and Re-accreditation
It’s the off season and you are probably wanting to wind down from bowls for a while however the time presents an opportunity to plan for next season. There has been interest from several of you regarding becoming accredited markers, measurers and umpires. I have contacted Bowls SA about.
Winter Social Bowls Thur May 2
Another great Autumn day is forecast for this Thursday. A very pleasant 21 degrees, mostly sunny, light winds and no rain forecast. There are generous prizes for bowling place getters and raffle winners, and don't forget, of course, the players' jackpot draw. $2 from every bowling entry goes into the draw, so with more players the larger the jackpot pool!
Please register your attendance by writing your name on the rego sheet in the clubhouse, or for this week please contact Ken Watson via phone or text. Ken has kindly offered to run the show while I have my eyesight improved. Make sure you do show up if you are registered but if you can't make it for whatever reason, please let Ken know as soon as you can.
Have a great day on Thursday, will see you (more clearly) the following week
