Ross Turner

Raise a glass to toast Ross wishing him a very happy 90th birthday. Ross has been a wonderful member of our club for 25 years and for 17 of those years run a popular Night Owls competition. When I first became a member Ross welcomed and encouraged me, which I appreciated.

MBA Super Challenge

Congratulations to the team that competed in Bronze North. They finished on top after the minor rounds and went on to win the grand final against Willunga at Hawthorn on April 14. Thank you to our band of loyal supporters who braved a very cold night.

Thank you to Peter Douglas for organizing and coordinating the team. Some weeks were like herding cats but Peter remained calm and put together a team each week.

AGM, Friday, May 10, 2024

The AGM will be held on Friday May 10 beginning at 5pm. Put the date into your calendars. Great to the number of nominations.

Club Hire

On Sunday April 28 Ken Watson is seeking the assistance of a couple of people to organise a group of 20 bowlers from 1:30 to 3:30pm.

ANZAC Day Bowls

Anzac Day Bowls Thursday April 25th. “Stars plus” 2 bowl triples - Teams or single entries by Wednesday. Cost is $10 per player. Roll up/practice before midday if required. Anzac tribute and tea/coffee at midday. 3 games of 7 ends, first game starts 12:20pm.

Friday Night Club Meal

It was great to have some members enjoy fish and chips at the club this past Friday. The next Friday night meal is being held on May 3rd and the menu consists of pumpkin soup followed by roast beef and vegetables. The cost is $20 per person, helpers team two please.

Please put your name on the list in the clubrooms to book your place if you would like to enjoy a meal.

Facilities Improvement Committee Meeting

Anyone interested in being on this Committee is welcome to attend the next meeting on Thursday May 9th at 10am.

The agenda will include:

  1. Progress report on the shade and weather cover between A and G green.
  2. What's next? Upgrade the toilet area or bar or insulate the ceiling or....
  3. Connecting with the Facilities Master Plan.
  4. Other.

Ladies Indoor Carpet Bowls

The next practice is on Monday 22nd from 9am to 11.30am. Everyone is welcome. Programs for the pennant season are available. The first pennant match is Tuesday April 30th.
