Results

Exciting times for the club as the top teams from each competition play in a grand final. Hopefully the Kookaburras can have the last laugh! One down two to go. By the time all matches conclude, we may have lost our voices!

Wednesday:

Salisbury certainly came to play and gave it their all. The Kookaburras however, had the last laugh (thank you to Ken Mason’s recording) with the result coming down to the last few bowls. Another final to cheer, this time at Adelaide Bowling Club on April 3.

Thursday:

The grand final is March 28 against Modbury at Hope Valley Bowling Club. We look forward to the Kensi cheer squad coming out again.

Saturday:

Our division 3 North team had won convincingly against Walkerville and well deserved their grand final berth. What a day at Prospect Broadview with fast greens and the wind changing a test for all bowlers. Great to see so many Kensi members, family and friends support them by cheering loudly. A wonderful, well deserved win for the Kookaburras. The team maintained the focus each week ensuring they were always close enough for finals. Back at the club, it looked like they were settled in for an all-nighter.

General News

The AGM will be held on Friday, May 10 beginning at 5pm. The current committee is keen to attract new and enthusiastic members. Heather will post nomination forms on the club noticeboard. Great to see a couple of nominations. Keep it up please.

End of Season Celebration and Presentation: Friday April 5th

Members draw will be at 6.30 pm followed by the club’s End of Season Celebration dinner.

Vegan meals will be made available on request. Cost is $25 each which will include a drink voucher.

A list for people to write their names down on is up in the clubhouse from today, March 16th. Names are required to be on the list no later than March 31st, no exceptions. If you want a table of eight, please fill in the other sheet next to the menu selections.

Helpers Team two has been rostered to help and extra assistance from committee members would be appreciated as we are short of volunteers to serve on the night.

Womens Country Carnival

We have been asked by Bowls SA to host the carnival on the following dates:

  • Tuesday April 9th singles with 24 bowlers
  • Wednesday April 10th pairs with 40 bowlers

Assistance is sought in the following areas:

  • Kitchen 4 people per day for pre-game and lunch serving.
  • Markers for singles 12 for the day lunch provided.
  • Measurer 1 per day to assist Alan Lambert as umpire.
  • Money collector for each day at 8.30am.

If you can assist, please let me know by Thursday March 28th so a roster can be drawn up.

Club Hires

Club hires are a valuable financial resource for the club but like anything at a community club, volunteers are the lifeblood that make these events work. There are two large hires coming up close to our end of season celebration dinner and Women’s Country Carnival where bowling has been requested. We love that everyone is interested in bowling although it means we are looking for a few bowlers to give up a couple of hours to support.

  • Thursday 4th April. 7 - 9pm This is a large group (up to 120) from the Futures Church. We will need quite a few people to support these numbers, which could raise approximately $1,000 for the club.
  • Friday 12th April 6 - 8pm. This is a group of 40-50 people from Pembroke Old Scholars.

Those willing to assist please let Ken Watson know asap by phone (0488 033 945) or email (kjacwats@ozemail.com.au)
