Message From the President

Vale Carolyn Grant Allan

Carol passed away peacefully on Monday January 7. The notice of funeral arrangements appears in the January 13 edition of The Advertiser. I have included them below. Family and friends of Carol are advised her celebration of life will be held in the Wattle Chapel, Enfield Memorial Park, Gordon Avenue Clearview on Friday January 19 commencing at 1:15pm. In lieu of floral tributes a donation in memory of Carol to either Alzheimer’s Australia or Parkinson Foundation would be appreciated.

Greens Closure

A reminder that rinks 3 and 4 on A green remain closed. Please look at the board at the side entry to the clubrooms for notifications regarding greens.

BBQ Area

The BBQ is in frequent use and like all areas of the club requires maintenance. In many ways it is an engine room of the club and deserves TLC. Gaynor generously donated a BBQ in November and Tony Spriggs has come to the rescue to give the shelter a face lift. He and David Freeman spent a warm Wednesday cleaning the area. On Friday Tony was back painting the shelter.

Volunteers

Finding volunteers for afternoon tea on Saturdays has been challenging and having most pennant players unavailable has compounded the issue. There is a core group who volunteer but there are times when they are not available and back up is needed. Yesterday Paula Butterworth stepped in managed on her own with support from the group who had inside rink duty plus several other players. If anyone is available every now and then it would be appreciated and ease the load.

A Day In The Gardens

Please promote our Annual Tournament whenever you are at an away game.

Update on Usage of 'C' Green

Renovations are now complete and the green is available for the following:

  • Tuesday practice after rolling approx. 9am
  • Wednesday pennant if needed
  • Thursday pennant if needed
  • Friday practice particularly if you are playing away on grass
  • Saturday pennant if needed
  • Sunday as required
  • Monday closed for maintenance
