Message From the President
State Fours and Ladies Day
It’s been a busy week beginning last Sunday.
State Men's and Women's Fours Sectionals
We welcomed 96 bowlers on Sunday November 26 from across metropolitan and regional clubs for the State Men’s and Women’s fours sectionals. The weather was perfect, very little wind and ideal temperatures for a great day of bowls.
Thankyou to Peter G supported by David Freeman, for managing a brilliant day. Ulli had the greens at their magnificent best. Thankyou to everyone else who spent Sunday assisting. David Freeman set up the rinks, Bevan Carson for delivering supplies, Ken M and I worked the bar, Tania and Ken W managed BowlsLink results, Alan Lambert umpired and was well supported by Allan Wilkins and Peter Douglas, John Butterworth and Kim Draper did a brisk trade with pies and pasties. Thank you to anyone else who helped make the day a success.
Ladies Gala Day
We backed up the big day on Sunday with the relaunch of our Ladies Barbie Bowls Tournament on Monday November 27. The day certainly would not have happened without the work and good will of club members. Congratulations to the Tournament committee Brian Dew, Gary Byron, Tania Lewis, Katie Gunning, Phil McBride, Tony Spriggs and Ross Turner who planned and managed the event.
The whole day worked like clockwork. We welcomed 30 teams of triples. Players came from Beaumont, Prospect Broadview, Blackwood, Ascot Park, Sturt, Tranmere, Walkerville, Hope Valley, Grange, Payneham and Curramulka. From feedback everyone thoroughly embraced the Barbie theme. A great day was had by all. Brian and Ross with the assistance of John Butterworth kept the scores up to date. Many of the people who came out to assist on Sunday were there again on Monday.
Thankyou to all who helped to make the day a wonderful success. Katie, Tania, Liz and Robyn, Marianne and Jeanette Archer transformed the clubroom into a picture of pink with balloons and streamers. Peter Glazbrook was again on deck all day this time he and the catering team of Ngaire Alldritt, Bev McBride, Pam Rycroft, Heather Howard and Paula Butterworth kept us well fed all day. Packing up after a big day is always a challenge so thankyou to David Freeman and Ryan Wilkins for rearranging the tables in the clubroom. Thankyou to David for outside rink duty. Alan Lambert was umpire and enjoyed the bowls with very little umpiring required. The greens were again fantastic thank you Ulli, Peter and Mike. Thommo and Andrew had C green running at 15 to 16. Tony and Mike cooked the BBQ while the Kens Mason and Watson worked the bar. Doug his entertaining best as raffle master for the day while Tania did a roaring trade on the wine wall. In fact, I think we could have sold more wine wall tickets (note for another time). Once again, the weather gods were looking down on us favourably with another excellent bowling day. By the end of the day, we could see the change gradually rolling in.
We are looking forward to the next Ladies tournament in 2024!!
Lots more photos were taken on the day. A separate newsletter will be sent out this week with more of the photos from the day.

Food Safety
From December 8, 2023, enforcement of the new requirements will commence so I’m hoping that by then most people involved in food handling will have completed the course.
Thank to those of you who have taken time to complete the certificate. I have included a link to an approved online course that is available free of charge. A certificate is generated immediately on successful completion.

Club Hire
December 16th sees the club being hired out for Nocelle Foods (Natures Delight). There will be some adult games conducted on the tennis courts from 4pm with bowls being undertaken from 5-8pm. There is only one team playing home that day; if there is a club member or two that can volunteer their time after bowls to show those attending the club hire how to play the game it would be much appreciated.
Club Christmas Dinner
Christmas Dinner December 15th booking are now full! There will be no chance to walk in on the night. It's sure to be a great evening for all those who are attending.
Thanks - Ken Mason

If anyone is using the original program for all the Pennant bowls games for the 2023/2024 season can you please disregard this. The new bowls schedule program to be followed is located on the noticeboard in the clubhouse.
Support Required for Club Hires
We will need some volunteers to help support the social bowling at these events. If you are able to assist with any of these can you please contact Ken Watson (mobile 0488 033 945) or email (kjacwats@ozemail.com.au).
- On Friday 8 December there is a hire at the club with about 20 people bowling between 6 and 7 pm.
- On Sunday 10 December there is a hire at the club between 12:00 and 5:00pm, with about 40 guests bowling between 1:30 and 3:30pm.

Help Needed
Please contact Anne O’Dea (0407797401) if you’re able to help.
For Thursday December 14 - our final Night Owls for 2023. Sausage sizzle service (5:30pm - 7:30pm) and assistance with the after bowls supper (8pm-9pm). It doesn't have to be the same person - you can choose to help with just one.
Thanks - Anne
Happy Hour
Don't forget that happy hour takes place at the club each and every Friday night and it's a great way to socialise with other members of the KMBC family.
Sponsorship Display Screen
It would be appreciative for ALL events at the club that the inside duty team make sure that the screen is on as part of the set up duties. It is imperative we display our sponsors names at ALL events as this is the only medium we have for continuous exposure and advertising to support their businesses. Appreciate everybody's support on this matter.
Thanks heaps, Nev Y

Sponsors play a vital role in the future of our club so please be sure to support them whenever you can. Anyone who has an idea about a potential sponsor please approach anyone on the Committee to share your ideas.
