Message From the President

State Fours and Ladies Day

Sunday (today) the club hosts Sectionals of the State fours.

Tomorrow is the re-launch of what we anticipate becoming an annual event once again, KMBC Ladies Gala Day. This year’s theme Barbie has attracted 30 teams of triples, which is fantastic. Thank you to Paradise Mazda for their ongoing support of our major events.

Results

Wednesday: All teams played away.

  • Division 2 vs Prospect Broadview at Prospect Broadview. A win 110 to 106.
  • Division 3 vs Payneham at Payneham. Defeated 70 to 125.
  • Division 4 vs Prospect Broadview at Prospect Broadview. The team had a great win 62 to 57.

Thursday: Both teams played at home and were successful despite the persistent rain.

  • Division 1 vs Beaumont. A convincing win 72 to 39.
  • Division 2 vs Playford. A well-deserved win 52 to 44.

Saturday: Another mixed day of results.

  • Division 3 vs Semaphore at home. A win 84 to 56.
  • Division 4 vs Sturt at Sturt. A win 85 to 78.
  • Division 5 vs Hope Valley at home. The team was defeated 88 to 93.
  • Division 6 vs Beaumont at home. Defeated 54 to 67.
  • Division 7 vs Payneham at Payneham. Defeated 39 to 67.

Food Safety

From December 8, 2023, enforcement of the new requirements will commence so I’m hoping that by then most people involved in food handling will have completed the course.

Thank to those of you who have taken time to complete the certificate. I have included a link to an approved online course that is available free of charge. A certificate is generated immediately on successful completion.

Please forward a copy of your certificate to KMBC secretary Heather Garnett to be filed in club records. Email to kensiclub.bowls@gmail.com

Assistance Please

Gaynor has offered to donate her hooded BBQ to the club to replace the one that isn’t currently working. She would appreciate a couple of people being available to collect the BBQ from her place in StPeters please. They will need a trailer. Please contact Gaynor to make arrangements.

Support Required for Club Hires

We will need some helpers at three hires in the coming week. Can you please include a request for help in the newsletter this week. I am not sure of the times when they will be bowling but the hires are:

  1. Thursday 30 November. Hire is down for 12 - 3:30. I would assume bowling would be something like 2 - 3
  2. Thursday 30 November   I assume bowling 5 - 6pm
  3. Sunday 3 December.  Not sure of timing, but I assume bowling after lunch - 1:30 - 3?

Thank you - Ken Watson

Help Needed

Is anyone (or two) available to help with food service at Thursday night owls for the next 3-4 weeks while Joan Young is recovering from shoulder surgery. Please contact Anne O’Dea (0407797401) if you’re able to help. You’d be needed from 6pm - 8pm and it involves serving the sausage sizzle. If there are lots of volunteers, you’ll only be needed once!

Thanks - Anne O'Dea

Happy Hour

Don't forget that happy hour takes place at the club each and every Friday night and it's a great way to socialise with other members of the KMBC family.

Sponsorship Display Screen

It would be appreciative for ALL events at the club that the inside duty team make sure that the screen is on as part of the set up duties. It is imperative we display our sponsors names at ALL events as this is the only medium we have for continuous exposure and advertising to support their businesses. Appreciate everybody's support on this matter.

Thanks heaps, Nev Y

Sponsors

Please remember that when you visit one of our club sponsors to let them know you are from the KMBC so they know their sponsorship is worthwhile. Sponsors play a vital role in the future of our club so please be sure to support them whenever you can. Anyone who has an idea about a potential sponsor please approach anyone on the Committee to share your ideas.
