About Us
The Kensington Gardens Bowling and Tennis club has a long and proud history since its formation in 1919.
Just ten minutes from the city centre, the Club is situated in the north east corner of the Kensington Gardens Reserve (corner of The Parade and East Terrace, Kensington Gardens). Entry to the clubhouse is from East Terrace with parking available in East Terrace and on The Parade.
It has one of the most attractive sporting settings for lawn bowls and lawn tennis in South Australia amidst the beautiful open spaces and playing fields of Kensington Gardens Reserve.
The Club has 3 bowling greens and 15 lawn tennis courts that are maintained to very high standards. Night lighting is available across all of these playing areas. Our facilities are a benchmark for quality and regularly host state and national tournaments.
Our large clubhouse is licensed with downstairs bar and catering facilities that provide an excellent social setting for 100+ people. An upstairs balcony and bar overlooking the tennis courts is ideal for smaller groups of people.
All facilities are available for hire for private or corporate events.
Our membership spans a wide range of ages and abilities with options for both social and competition membership.
In addition to social and competition bowls and tennis, the club has a number of social events throughout the year which includes our weekly Friday night Happy Hours and 2 course dinners.
The Kensington Gardens Bowling and Tennis club has around 350 members and comprises 2 sporting and social clubs:
- Kensington Marryatville Bowling Club (Kensi Kookaburras)
- Kensington Gardens Lawn Tennis Club
There is a Board of Management, responsible for the management of the overall facility as well as committees for each of the Bowling and Tennis clubs.
