Bowls SA Awards

On Friday night, 10 members of KMBC attended the Bowls SA Awards night at Morphettville Race Course. KMBC had 3 finalists in the running for a number of awards including:

  • Alan Lambert - Official of the Year
  • Peter Glazbrook - Volunteer of the Year
  • KMBC - Night Owls Club of the Year

Unfortunately for Alan and Peter, this was not to be their year. The KMBC committee and members congratulate them both for being recognised and acknowledged for their achievements and commitment to both the sport of lawn bowls and the KMBC over their lifetime bowling.

I am very pleased and proud to announce that KMBC was announced as the winner of Night Owls Club of the Year! Anne O'Dea and myself proudly accepted the award on behalf of the club.

This is a huge honour and achievement by the club and reflects our commitment over the years to growing and building our profile both within the general community and the bowling community. I want to thank and acknowledge all members involved in both the Tuesday and Thursday Night Owls format. It is not only the volunteers and coordinators over the years who have helped make KMBC and the Night Owls program what it is today, but also the players and members who have come along and contributed.

Well done to all of KMBC! Let's keep the momentum rolling and build on it for further success.

New Bowls Secretary Required

It is with great disappointment and reluctance that I have accepted the resignation of our recently elected secretary, Gary Byron. Gary has tendered his resignation citing personal reasons.

While the committee works through the process of advertising and electing a new secretary, I would like to thank Gary for his initial nomination and support of the committee and club. Gary will continue on with his role within the tournament committee.

If you are interested in joining the Bowls committee as Secretary (or potentially another role), please reach out to a committee member for a nomination form.

B Green Update

The KGTBC Board of Management are in discussions with Burnside Council as to the best course of action regarding the tree root discovered under Rink 10 of B Green. In the meantime, KGTBC have approached an Arborist for an independent assessment into how best to treat the problem without causing too much harm to the tree, while preventing any further reoccurance. While it may seem a straight-forward fix, the BoM have a number of parties to liaise with to ensure a cost-effective solution is reached with minimal cost incurred to all concerned.

KMBC Members off to Aust Open

The KMBC would like to wish the following members 'Good luck and good bowling' as they leave Thursday for the Gold Coast and the Australian Open.
