President's Messages

Bowls AGM

The Kensington Marryatville Bowling Club AGM was held on May 8 in the clubrooms with those attending voting in a new committee for the 2026/27 season. I am honoured and look forward to being your president and, along with the committee, doing all we can, to ensure the club continues to excel and become the premier club of the eastern suburbs. The committee members are:

  • President - Patrick Lee
  • Secretary - Gary Byron
  • Treasurer - Colin Tutty
  • Committee Member/ Past President - Marg Lambert
  • Committee Member/ Sponsorship - Neville Yeates
  • Committee Member/ Website - Oliver Fraatz
  • Committee Member/ Membership - Tania Lewis
  • Committee Member/ Membership - Phil McBride
  • Committee Member - John Gould
  • Committee Member - Kevin Carney
  • Committee Member - Anne O'Dea

I would like to acknowledge the contribution of our out-going president, Marg Lambert. Her effort, commitment and dedication over the last 3 years has seen the club well positioned to take even greater strides in the coming years, both on and off the green.

I would like to thank Pip Malone and Georgia Kolberg for their service and contribution to the club as they step down from their respective roles of secretary and committee member. While Geogia has stepped down, she will continue to work with Oliver as the Social Media manager for the club, ensuring we continue to be promoted in the online Social Media world.

The committee welcomed two new members to join the team — Gary Byron and John Gould. Stepping up and taking on their new responsibilities is much appreciated by everyone.

Congratulations — Over 60s Pairs

The meeting heard from Jeanette Hill of the performance of a number of club members who had participated in the Bowls SA Over 60s Pairs event throughout the week.

  • Derek Miller and Mark McLennon made it through to the semi-finals.
  • Greg Miller and Bill Lewis made it to the final, before being pipped at the post by the last bowl on the last end!
  • Katie Gunning and Bill Lewis played in the mixed pairs.
  • Katie Gunning and Robyn Hutton played in the Ladies pairs

One of the points I raised on Friday night was my intent to 'Fly the Flag' for KMBC. If you intend to enter tournaments or state-level competitions, please let the committee know! If we can let the club and community know about our participation and success, it will help lift and improve the club's profile. With higher exposure, it could in turn lead to further community participation through Night Owls, attract new members to Pennants and will ensure the club continues to improve its standing with its sponsors and other organisations.

Ken Mason raised a point of concern as to why some of the events held by the club weren't as profitable or made a loss. In my address at the end of the AGM, I acknowledged his concern and stated the committee will be conducting a review into all facets of the club, including how to improve our performances on the green, as well as the general business of the club.

Members Draw

The member's draw was conducted at the closure of the AGM, with number 32 (Sandra Nolan) being drawn out. With Sandra not being there, next month's draw has now been jackpotted.
