President's Messages

Champion of Champions Knockout

Thank you to Peter Glazbrook for once again taking on another Bowls SA event yesterday. It was a great day for the bowls community. The bowling by current club champions from across SA provided an excellent spectacle for those who came to watch.

He and I are grateful to those who volunteered to set up, umpire, mark, enter results on Bowlslink, open the bar, serve food. The work of volunteers makes each event at the club an outstanding success.
From Peter G. Many thanks to our members who supported the event yesterday:

  • Alan Lambert umpire/measurer
  • Tania Lewis Bowlslink
  • Ken Mason bar
  • John Butterworth and Stan Fuller catering
  • Markers: Russell Miller, Peter Douglas, Allan Wilkins, Jan Kruse, Ulli Kruse, Marg Lambert, Kim Draper, Russell Whitford, Bill Lewis and Pat Lee.

Kim's Ramdom Draw Pairs Comp

By popular demand Kim Draper will run one more session of Kim’s Comp bowls on Thursday April 23. If you intend to play, please be at the club before 12.45pm to register. Note that all registrations are on the day and pairs are draw from registrations at 12.45pm.

Schools Program

We have been running a very successful program with students from Saints Girls School during Term one. Several girls have shown talent and interest, and we are hopeful that we will have a school team to compete in the Bowls SA Interschool Challenge in May.

As in recent years, the Health & Physical Education staff at Norwood International High School have requested the opportunity for their Year 10 classes to have an introduction to lawn bowls at our club during Term 2. There will be three classes, each to have four lessons on days and times as shown below.

Hence, I am asking members who are willing to volunteer to assist with this program to contact me on 0488 033 945 or by email to kjacwats@ozemail.com.au. With thanks in anticipation of your support.

Winter Bowls (from Apr 30 & May 3)

Thank you to Kevin Carney and David Freeman along with their team of assistants who have agreed to manage the club’s off-season programs. Thursday will begin on April 30 and Saturday on May 3 unless otherwise communicated.

Bowls AGM (May 8)

A reminder that the AGM has been advertised for 6:30pm. Please note that all positions become vacant, so it would be wonderful to see some new faces and new ideas.
