Members Draw
There was a large crowd at the club on Friday night for the Members’ Draw, sponsor visit, raffle and meal. Members’ Draw jackpot had reached a very enticing $500. Congratulations to Angela Hawley whose number was drawn. Fortunately for her she was present and very excited to collect the winnings.
We welcomed club sponsor Justine Reynolds from Woodleigh Hills. Justine spoke passionately about her products and their development. Neville Yeates won a jar of Wilga which Justine suggested would be ideal for his painful knee while many of us took the opportunity to try her product during the evening.
The reintroduction of meals on Friday nights has proved popular with members, friends and neighbours enjoying the evenings.
Christmas Dinner (Dec 12)
I look forward to many of you joining us for our Christmas dinner. Both Father Christmas and the Christmas fairy have agreed to make a stop at the club during the evening.
The dinner is a three-course meal for $45 per person, prepared and served by Rhys and his team. Add your name to the table list, which is in the clubrooms on the bench under the noticeboard outside the kitchen. There are additional details later in the newsletter.

Club Hires
The following are a list of club hires where social bowls has been requested and is expected to occur. If hirers request social bowls, bowls club members are expected to provide assistance. Where helpers have been requested, the following duties are required to ensure a successful day.

What is expected of you includes:
- Help with the set up the greens. This involves placing mats, jacks etc. out for the number of rinks required, dependent on the numbers.
- Provide assistance, if required, to participants to select the correct size bowl, demonstrate how to hold the bowl correctly, the bias etc, as well as the basic delivery method.
- Provide supervision, particularly where children are involved, to ensure no damage to the greens from dropping or dumping of the bowls occurs.
- Assist with the pack up of the bowls, mats, jacks etc. at the completion of the hire. Provide guidance to the hirers of where rubbish goes, cleaning products are located etc. to assist and ensure the hirers are able to clean up after themselves at the end of the hire.
- You are encouraged to interact and make welcome the participants, particularly promoting the club and the opportunities we provide, like Tuesday and Thursday Night Owls, coaching etc. You never know where the next club member or champion might come from!
What is NOT expected of you includes:
- You are not expected to address or coordinate the group per se, BUT, see point 2 above.
- You are NOT expected to clean the clubhouse after a hire. That is the responsibility of the hirer. But, see point 4 above.
- Unless you have an RSA, and have been contacted by Ken Mason, you are not expected to help behind the bar.
If you are available to spare a couple of hours to provide this assistance, please contact myself or Ken Watson.

National Umpires Course
The club is keen to attract more members to become officials at games as markers, measurers and umpires, which eases the load on our current officials.
More importantly, we need to ensure that we have umpires present at home games each week rather than relying on visitors to provide umpires. Much of the training is available online with a short on green component required to complete the course. The flexibility of including online components means that more people who work during the week have access.
The club will provide reimbursement of expenses on provision of a receipt. The link for the course is below. To get started follow the log-in directions.
Christmas Raffle (Dec 12)
If you haven't already, please get your raffle books and money back to Pip as a matter of urgency. Both can be placed in the blue box on the bench near the kitchen door at the club. The raffle will be drawn at our Christmas Dinner on Friday 12 December 2025.
Our gift baskets will be prepared by Pip and Georgia tomorrow night, so if you have any last-minute gifts to add, please leave them in the box near the Christmas tree at the club.
- Visit our Kensi Christmas Raffle page for more information.
Christmas Dinner (Dec 12)
The booking sheet is now in the clubhouse and payment is required on booking to secure your place. We also require your preference as to entree and dessert and whether you require a vegan meal. Pip will place a sheet next to the booking sheet for you to nominate your preference. This is important as otherwise you will just receive the meal dropped to you which may not be your choice.
The dinner will be preceded by the drawing of the Christmas Raffle at 6.30pm and as always we hope to have a few surprises. Music will be provided by our "in-house" DJ and dancing is required this year. The menu has been posted on our Facebook Page and is also on the Website.
- Visit our Kensi Christmas Dinner page for more information.
