Renovation Update

This week, the plasterboard was completed and wiring for the sound system was trenched to the shades at the end of A and B greens. Ralph met with the tiler during the week in readiness to begin the next stage of the renovation.

Friday Night Meals

Last Friday saw a full house for the meal and Members’ Draw, which is great for the club. Although Marianne Kieboom's name was drawn, unfortunately she was not in attendance to collect her winnings. Therefore, the jackpot for next month is $400.  I was very pleased to see our Ward Councilor Kerry Hallett join us. She is doing great work in supporting our meals through promotions on Facebook. Hopefully, we will see more of her at future meals.

Pre Season

This is the final week of trial matches before pennants begin next Saturday, October 11. Wednesday and Thursday competitions on October 15 and 16 with matches for these two competitions being scheduled away from home.

Preseason Trials

  • October 8 Wednesday @12:30pm, vs Clarence Gardens @Clarence Gardens

The Blue Book

This book is a vital communication tool for those of you who will be unavailable for games during the pennant season. If you have plans that coincide with a pennant game, put your name into the book under the date. This helps selectors’ forward planning. Where is the blue book? Sitting by the blue box.

Pannant Reminders

With the first pennant matches in mind, I’m taking a few moments in this newsletter to remind players of uniform requirements, including shoes. Refer to the photo provided by bowls Australia. Bowls Australia has an extensive list of approved footwear.

Attire / Dress Code

13.1 Uniforms In accordance with the Bowls SA Uniform Policy, all players in a side must be dressed in the Pennant uniform of their Member Club and have the Bowls Australia logo on shirts. All pennant players have been issued a shirt courtesy of the Marryatville Trust. Extra shirts can be purchased from Jan Kruse. Pants/skirts/hats ideally in accordance with the Bowls Australia Logo Policy, however ink blue/navy blue is the correct colour.

13.2 Lowest ranked Side/Combined Side In a club’s lowest ranked side or in a Combined side, the Dress Code is satisfied if an Opposite Gender or Temporary player is wearing a plain white or pale coloured shirt or their own club approved uniform.

Club Training (3pm Tuesdays)

Rod Squire will be available at 3pm for an afternoon club training session of an hour or so. He will continue if there is sufficient interest. Please support him by turning up. Last week there were 3 keen participants.

Christmas Raffle

Our Christmas Raffle was launched at the Opening of the Season Dinner and raffle books are now available for distribution. Please see Nev, Pip or Georgia for books to buy/sell. Some members missed out last year, so be quick! This is considered a major fundraiser for our club, the prizes are great and your support appreciated.

KMBC Ladies Gala Day (Nov 24)

The annual Ladies' Gala Day, originally scheduled for Monday 27 October, has been postponed due to ongoing club renovations to Monday 24 November 2025.  The bowling format is 3 games of rolling 3 bowl triples. Our ladies' tournaments in recent years have achieved a great reputation as a fun-filled day of bowling with very generous bowling and raffle prizes, plus a delicious two-course luncheon and pre- and post-game snacks.

This year's theme is 'The 1970s'. So, dig up some cool, hip, even psychedelic gear and turn up looking super groovy on the day.  There is a very generous cash prize for the best themed dressed team.  Cool 1970s music will add to the atmosphere of the day. Ladies, put this date in your diaries and start organizing your teams and outfits now.

The details of the event are on noticeboards and table stands in the clubhouse and there are spare A5 flyers in a stand below the club noticeboard.  Please take some and hand to bowlers you may know or meet in other clubs during trial and pennant matches.  As soon as you are ready to register, please let me know and place your name on the registration sheet on the whiteboard near the kitchen.

As soon as you ar ready to register, please let me know and place your name on the registration sheet.
