Season Opening Dinner

We welcomed 90+ into the club for our Opening Season Dinner.

It takes many volunteers to make an event a success. I am grateful to them for willingly supporting the event. Earlier in the year when the committee selected the date, we had no idea how the club would look or if it would be available with renovations underway.

Given the situation, Paul Morfidis and his wife Di offered to make yiros for the masses, so how could we refuse such a generous offer? Speaking of yiros, Paul had things so thoroughly organised until the weather decided to intervene and extinguish the BBQ and rain saturated Paul. We got there in the end thanks to great work by the kitchen team. The wait was worth it – great yiros.

Rod and Heather rolled the first jack and ball to begin the season. Heather then jumped behind the bar to assist Derek for the evening. Due to BBQ issues, they did a roaring trade at the bar. Jan presented new pennant members with their shirts before Pat began the random draw for distribution of meals.

Following the main course was a selection of desserts made by a few members which were well received. Pip, Colin, Clerice, Liz, Kevin, Neville and Robyn F set up and worked throughout the evening in and around the kitchen.

Our Christmas Raffle was launched at dinner and raffle books are now available for distribution. Please see Nev, Pip or Georgia for books to buy/sell.  Some members missed out last year, so be quick! This is considered a major fundraiser for our club, the prizes are great and your support appreciated.

As a wrap up Georgia compiled great photos and comments for Facebook, so check them out if you haven’t already.

The Blue Book

This book is a vital communication tool for those of you who will be unavailable for games during the pennant season. If you have plans that coincide with a pennant game, put your name into the book under the date. This helps selectors’ forward planning. Where is the blue book? Sitting by the blue box.

Norwood International High School

The club has been working with students from NIHS during September as part of their Year 10 Lifestyle and Health class. Thank you to those of you who have assisted. This week will be the last of the last of the sessions. Thank you to the men on Wednesday who have accommodated trials around the students.

KMBC Ladies Gala Day (Nov 24)

The annual Ladies' Gala Day, originally scheduled for Monday 27 October has been postponed due to ongoing club renovations to Monday 24 November 2025.  The bowling format is 3 games of rolling 3 bowl triples. Our ladies' tournaments in recent years have achieved a great reputation as a fun-filled day of bowling with very generous bowling and raffle prizes, plus a delicious two course luncheon and pre and post-game snacks.

This year's theme is 'The 1970's' So, dig up some cool, hip, even psychedelic gear and turn up looking super groovy on the day.  There is a very generous cash prize for the best theme dressed team.  Cool 1970's music will add to the atmosphere of the day. Ladies, put this date in your diaries and start organizing your teams and outfits now.

The details of the event are on noticeboards and table stands in the clubhouse and there are spare A5 flyers in a stand below the club noticeboard.  Please take some and hand to bowlers you may know or meet in other clubs during trial and pennant matches.  As soon as you are ready to register, please let me know and place your name on the registration sheet on the whiteboard near the kitchen.

We are heading towards the end of September, yet there appear to be no team entries from our club members! So come on ladies let’s get organised and support this wonderful club event.  I’m sure many of you identified with the hippy movement during the 70’s?

As soon as you ar ready to register, please let me know and place your name on the registration sheet.
