Vale Richard Bond

Earlier this week I was informed that Richard had passed away on Mother's Day. He attempted to come back to the club last year after leaving the game for a few years, but unfortunately ill health didn’t allow it. Richard will be remembered by those who knew him as a friendly, quiet achiever and very good lead bowler.

Pannant Selectors for Season 2025/26

In preparation for the pennant season, the committee requests those interested in being considered as a selector to forward your name to Pip Malone (0409 955 501) or Tania Lewis (0414 903 513) or email to:

  • kensiclub.bowls@gmail.com by July 15.

Survey re-Pennant Competition

Thank you to everyone who took time to respond to the surveys. The Intention Survey was important in gauging the number of players who intend to play pennant bowls and to update contact information. There are a number of pennant players who have not completed the survey. Can you please contact Tania Lewis ASAP to advise of your intentions for the upcoming season?

  • Contact: Tania Lewis by telephone or text on 0414 903 513

Closure of Rinks 3 & 4

A Green has shown small sand particles on the outer rinks, mainly rink 1 and 7. The green has been watered, rolled and swept on Saturday 05 July to reduce this issue. This happened due to sand being added to the playing surface a couple of months ago and the outer rinks not being used. Somehow everybody wants to play in the middle. We have therefore decided to give the centre rinks on A green a rest and ensure even wear of the surface.

Please do not ignore the sign. Remember there is a camera installed! Thursdays and Saturdays games will not be affected. Thanks for your cooperation.

Newsletter

Please note there will be no newsletter for the next 2 weeks. The next newsletter will be provided on 27 July 2025.

Grant Application

By now, I would imagine that most of you are aware that the grant application to renovate the change rooms and toilets at the eastern end of the clubrooms has been successful.

Peter Glazbrook (Project Manager) spoke to those who attended Happy Hour last Friday and provided a copy of the floor plan for the renovation which is linked below. If you have any queries please contact Peter on 0433 918 592.

Fundraiser for Breast Cancer Trials

Sarah Lee was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in 2017. Through the help and amazing research done by Breast Cancer Trials, Sarah's cancer is currently stable, allowing her to continue living her life to the fullest. Sarah's determination to help others and to give back to those who have helped her along the way has Sarah taking on the challenge of hiking a 100km portion of the 800km-long Camino Way in Spain in September! Her fundraising target is $3,500 which goes to Breast Cancer Trials.

Please join Sarah and Pat Lee for a fun and enjoyable night as we seek to find the brainiest of them all! Bring your own snacks, nibbles etc, but NO BYO alcohol please!

  • What: Hiking For Hope Quiz Night - Tables of 6!
  • When: 09 Aug @6.30 for 7pm start
  • Where: Beaumont Bowls Club, 71 Devereux Rd, Linden Park.

We have approached Beaumont to host only due to the uncertainty of what impact the renovations will have on the suitability of KMBC.

Happy Hour

Happy Hour is on at the Club this Friday at 5.30pm.  Ken Watson was in attendance last Friday and was the lucky winner of the $100 jackpot draw.
