Well done for making the grand final and putting up a good fight.

There were 2 finals played on Friday night. A loyal group of spectators witnessed some excellent bowling in each section. Congratulations to all participants.

  • Drawn Pairs - Katie Gunning & Robyn Fuller defeated Liz Greenfield & Pip Malone

C Green Update

Last Friday C green was top-dressed with 3.5 tonnes of bowling green sand. The work was carried out by Gary Thompson with help from Andrew Dayman. Two of our members, Kevin Carney and Colin Tutty, did a fantastic job of wheel-barrowing the soil to the drop spreader. Very well done. C green will remain closed until further notice.

Ladies Indoor Carpet Bowls

Calling all ladies interested in playing Indoor carpet bowls. For those who haven’t played this before, this is an enjoyable game especially during the winter months.

It will not spoil your “big” bowls. Most of the ladies in the Association play both lawn bowls and indoor bowls. You can do both. Pennant games begin on Tuesday 29th April. Tuesday Indoor where it is warm and Thursday outdoors, weather permitting.

Please let me know if you wish to play so I can register your name. If you intend to go on holidays for some of the winter, don’t worry, we will have extra players. The first practice is on Tuesday 22nd April.

Friday Night Happy Hour

Due to the Garage Sale being conducted at the club this Saturday and the set up required on Friday, there will not be a Happy Hour this Friday.

Garage Sale (April 5)

The upcoming garage sale is an excellent time to clear out unwanted goods that are in good condition to donate for sale. The previous garage sale coincided with the replacement of the artificial greens and was a valuable fundraiser for the club. What’s suitable? Clothes and shoes, electrical items, furniture, linen, books, children’s toys, games, jewellery, crockery and other bric-a-brac.

Cecily Griffiths, who is the organiser, has asked that items be brought to the club from Thursday, April 3. If you have issues regarding drop off, please contact Cecily on 0427 196 356.

End of Season Dinner (April 12)

Our end-of-season dinner is being held on Saturday, April 12 at 6.30pm. I look forward to seeing many of you there to wrap up and celebrate what has been a season of fluctuating fortune both on and off the greens.

Our sponsor, Paradise Mazda will present Club Championship awards during the evening. Importantly for Crows and Power fans we have checked the Gather Round schedule and no SA teams are playing that night.

The meal is Greek-themed with lamb, chicken and pork. Vegetarians and vegans will be well catered for. There is a choice of 4 delicious salads, 2 dips, flat bread and house-made rolls. Dessert is rum baba and cannoli.

A booking sheet is in the clubroom. Payment of $40 per head for the dinner by direct deposit is required prior. If you require assistance with your payment, please speak to a committee member.

Payment details are to be made to KGBTC Bowls account.

  • BSB: 105 141
  • ACCOUNT: 038722540
  • Payment reference: your name plus dinner.

A Green Maintenance (April 14)

I am planning to top-dress A green with about 1 ton of sand, trying to increase the speed a bit. This involves scarifying the green and then spreading the sand via a small fertiliser spreader over the entire green. There is plenty of sand in the shed for this purpose but it needs to be brought up to A green via wheelbarrows.

My back injury prevents me doing this so I will require 2 or 3 strong, younger helpers to assist. I anticipate this will probably take about 4 to 5 hours. Once the sand is spread it will require watering and rolling over the next few days, so there will be opportunities to learn how to use the roller.

Any person able to assist on this day, please advise me on 0414 390 287 asap. If successful, the same procedure needs to be repeated before pennant season on B green.

  • Thanks for your interest, Ulli.

Annual General Meeting (May 9)

The AGM will be held at the Club on Friday 9 May 2025 at 5.30pm. If you have any interest in joining the Committee, please contact one of the current committee members.
