Pennant Results
Wednesday - Finals
- Division 2 vs Millswood at Millswood. Won
Congratulations on another win and step towards winning a grand final. The game is at Lockleys against Hawthorn. All the best.
“Day in the Garden” Open Tournament
36 teams contested the day with 15 being from our club. Thank you to the players, especially those who traveled from Caltowie and Riverton. The Caltowie connection has been part of the club for many years as we travel to their tournament and they to ours.
A successful event never happens without the goodwill of volunteers and the enthusiasm of competitors who register and play. We had both on Monday. Tournament Director Brian Dew who has led the committee superbly for 6 years, handed over to Allan Wilkins at the conclusion of the tournament. Brian’s legacy ensures a smooth transition. Thank you to the committee who worked tirelessly with Brian – Peter Glazbrook, Tania Lewis, Katie Gunning, Gary Byron, Phil McBride and Joan Young. Support for them on the day was provided by Colin Tutty, Ross Turner and Ken Watson. The greens played well thanks to Ullie Kruse and Gary Thompson.
Set up the day before was supervised by Peter Glazbrook and assisted by Colin Tutty, Ngaire Alldritt, Allan Wilkins, Pip Malone, Neville Yeates, David Freeman, Katie Gunning and Liz Greenfield. Great work to get the clubrooms looking their best.
The kitchen team produced excellent meals thank you to one of the A teams – Peter Glazbrook, Paula Butterworth, Bev McBride, Kathy Carney, Kim Webster, Phil McBride, Ngaire Alldritt, Robyn Malone, Robyn Fuller and Neville Yeates. They ensured the club was left spotless at the end of the day. Vacuuming coconut off the carpet took ages thank you to Kathy for her persistence.
The bar, as usual, was busy. Thank you to Ken Mason, Tija Lewis, Peter Douglas and John Lewis. We did sell a few cans of Guinness and Kilkenny given it was St Patrick’s Day. Rink set up – thank you, Colin Tutty. Raffle – thank you to Pat Lee and Tania Lewis.
Jeanette Hill provided additional fundraising with a range of potted plants that proved to be winners with members and visitors. Georgia Kolberg posted a few well-chosen photos onto the club’s Facebook and Instagram.
Congratulations to Tony Spriggs, Alan Lambert and Tania Lewis overall tournament winners.
Club Championships
There were 3 finals played on Friday night. A loyal group of spectators witnessed some excellent bowling in each section. Congratulations to all participants.
- Men’s singles between Rod Squire and Bill Lewis. A match that kept the audience on the edge of their seats went down to the last bowl. Rod won by one.
- Women’s singles between Katie Gunning and Heather Garnett. Won by Heather.
- Women’s pairs – Tania Lewis and Marg Lambert vs Gaynor Dahlin and Kay Marceau. Won by Tania and Marg.

Garage Sale (April 5)
The upcoming garage sale is an excellent time to clear out unwanted goods that are in good condition to donate for sale. The previous garage sale coincided with the replacement of the artificial greens and was a valuable fundraiser for the club. What’s suitable? Clothes and shoes, electrical items, furniture, linen, books, children’s toys, games, jewellery, crockery and other bric-a-brac.
Cecily Griffiths, who is the organiser, has asked that items be brought to the club from Thursday, April 3. If you have issues regarding drop off, please contact Cecily on 0427 196 356.
End of Season Dinner (April 12)
Our end-of-season dinner is being held on Saturday, April 12 at 6.30pm. I look forward to seeing many of you there to wrap up and celebrate what has been a season of fluctuating fortune both on and off the greens.
Our sponsor, Paradise Mazda will present Club Championship awards during the evening. Importantly for Crows and Power fans we have checked the Gather Round schedule and no SA teams are playing that night.
The meal is Greek-themed with lamb, chicken and pork. Vegetarians and vegans will be well catered for. There is a choice of 4 delicious salads, 2 dips, flat bread and house-made rolls. Dessert is rum baba and cannoli.
A booking sheet is in the clubroom. Payment of $40 per head for the dinner by direct deposit is required prior. If you require assistance with your payment, please speak to a committee member.
- Visit our Kensi End of Season Dinner page for more information.
Payment details are to be made to KGBTC Bowls account.
