Mens Country Carnival Update

Monday February 3rd - Fours

Monday was touch and go with extreme weather conditions but due to Peter Glazbrook’s excellent temperature management we scraped in by 1.15pm. Games began at 8am with reduced ends for each. Tony Spriggs and Kevin Carney managed to cook Monday’s BBQ before needing a couple of quiet ones to quench their thirst.

Tuesday February 4th - Singles

This was the day for our markers to excel in fairly hot conditions. We had 17 markers to fill 12 matches per round on a rotation basis followed by a round of knockouts. They showed off the club by wearing full uniform and deserved their lunch break. P.S. There are still some pink spray chalk markers to be returned.

Wednesday February 5th - Pairs

Much better weather conditions but still plenty of issues to solve. The kitchen team led by Liz and Katie did a fantastic job on each day to provide a 2-course lunch. Their efforts earned high praise from our visiting bowlers. (One foodie commented our food was restaurant quality).

Ken Mason and the bar staff were kept busy at all times quenching the players thirst. Alan Lambert policed the starting times of each game and continued as umpire/measurer. At the end of the day, he carried out clean-up duty rink tasks. Colin Tutty collected money from players for lunch and carried out duty rink in the morning together with Mark McLennan.

Ken Watson and Tania Lewis shared BowlsLink entry duties for the 3 days. Any problems were efficiently resolved with the assistance of Bowls SA staff. Our club received very good feedback from our country cousins. Great work and thank you to everyone who volunteered. Peter Glazbrook once again managed the event superbly. The club provided outstanding hospitality for the 3 days during the heat thanks to Peter Glazbrook. The event was a success because of the many hours spent by our volunteers.

Greens Closed (Feb 10)
