Greens Management

By now many of you are probably aware that the time has come where Mike Lynch and Ulli Kruse are stepping back from their work maintaining the greens at the end of the pennant season. On behalf of the club and members I thank them for their wonderful work and tireless commitment to ensuring our synthetic greens are regarded as the best in the metropolitan area.

The committee is seeking expressions of interest from people prepared to be involved with the work. I suggest that sharing the work load across a small group may ease the load. Ulli and Mike are ready to take new apprentices to train in the range of tasks.

We look forward to seeing expressions of interest being sent to Philippa Malone by December 12. Ulli and Mike have no intention of leaving the club and will be available to support and mentor new greens team members in the roles.

Animals at the Club

Dogs at the club was discussed at the recent Board of Management meeting because several members bring their dogs to the club, which is something we don’t want to discourage, as most of us are dog lovers and enjoy seeing them there. The board members agreed on the following decision rather than a blanket ban on dogs at the club.

Dogs coming to the club are to be under the control of the owner and be on the lead. There are some members who take their pet dogs into the clubrooms so in accordance with the Safe Food Australia standards, the following has been agreed, and we would appreciate it being adhered to.

  1. Under the food standard 3.2.2 only certain animals are welcome in food premises
    1. assistance animals must be allowed in customer accessed areas
    2. pet dogs may be allowed in outdoor dining areas
  2. Assistance animals must be allowed into dining and drinking areas and any other areas used by customers, but they are not allowed in non-public areas, such as the kitchen. An assistance animal is a guide dog or other animal trained to help a person with a disability (in Section 9 of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992).
  3. Pet dogs may be permitted, but only in outdoor areas that are not enclosed. However, this is at the discretion of the business.

Monday Morning Training

If any new bowler or bowler is looking for specific training, Alan Lambert is available on Monday mornings at 10am for a couple of hours. Please contact him if you are interested. His number is 0422 606 175.

Happy Hour

A reminder there is Happy Hour at the Club each Friday at 5.30pm. You are encouraged to support the Club by coming along, bringing your friends and neighbors to enjoy this social occasion. If you can, please bring some food to share. There will always be enough to go around in any event, so just come along.

For those who would like to "kick on" a little later, we can always order some take-away to share. We would love to see you there.

Christmas Dinner (Fri 13 Dec)

A reminder that if you intend to come to the Christmas Dinner, the cost of the meal is $30 per head (payable on the night) for a 2-course dinner consisting of roast chicken, roast potatoes, beans, carrots and gravy followed by blueberry and lemon slice with cream and ice-cream.  The vegan option is eggplant parmigiana. Please make sure you either advise Pip, or indicate on the booking sheet if you require a vegan/vegetarian option.

There are still a few raffle books outstanding, so can you please put your sold raffle tickets and money in the blue box in the Club as soon as possible. Father Christmas will be arriving during the evening and there will be other highlights and, of course, dancing.

The Christmas Raffle will be drawn at the dinner. Please put your sold raffle tickets and money in the blue box in the Club as soon as possible please.
