Pennant Matches

The beginning of the season saw KMBC with 2 teams at home and 3 away. The day provided excellent conditions which was a welcome change. A warm 25 and the wind was kinder than it has been during preseason preparation. Selections however were challenging due to large numbers being unavailable. I am hopeful that as the season progresses the number will decrease.

Chair of Selectors Replacement

Cecily Griffiths has resigned from the position of Chair of Selectors effective as of Wednesday last week. As a matter of importance, the club is seeking a replacement. If you are interested in the position, please contact David Freeman on 0439 800 534. I am confident that he would be pleased to hear from you.

Saturday Pennants

Results are as follows. The first match with many new bowlers playing we made a positive start to the season with most teams sitting in the middle of pennant ladders. The standout was the magnificent win by the Division 7 team.

Division 2 vs Beaumont at Beaumont. The team rallied well after the break to make a great comeback and challenge Beaumont. In the end losing by 1 shot 74 to 75.

  • Division 4 vs Hope Valley at home. Lost 68 to 89.
  • Division 5 vs Sturt at Sturt. Lost 79 to 92.
  • Division 6 vs Hope Valley at home. Lost 52 to 66.

Division 7 vs Trinity Gardens at Trinity Gardens. The team won 121 to 38 in a result that must have left Trinity Gardens shell shocked. Special mention to Pip, Ross, Gaby and Georgia who had an incredible day winning 64 to 3. Each won an eight badge and a fifty badge.

Wednesday and Thursday competitions begin in the coming week. Please remember: If you will be unavailable for a game, please write your name in the unavailable book. The book is located outside the office window. Contact David Freeman if necessary.

Reminder Regarding Use of Club Bowls

KMBC generously opens the clubrooms each day for members to access facilities which includes bowling equipment. There is a range of bowls of varying sizes for use by members of the club. They are in the men’s locker room along with mats and jacks.

Non members may only use club bowls during organized competitions, coaching sessions and events while at KMBC. I have become aware that on a couple of occasions players from other clubs have taken our bowls to use at matches. If you are approached regarding this matter, please contact either me or David Freeman as this cannot continue.

Afternoon Teas

Thanks to our fabulous volunteers, Paula, Cheryl and Jenny who will help when there are 3 teams playing at home. Each Saturday, the team doing inside duty will need to assist with the preparation and clean-up of afternoon tea. We thank you in advance for this assistance. When there are only 2 teams playing at home, there will be no extra volunteer. Thanks to Div 4 and Div 6 for their efforts yesterday. Thanks also to Ken Mason.

To all teams, please make sure your table is left tidy (chairs in) with dirty dishes put in the dishwasher and rubbish in the bin. Money is to be checked ($5 from each KMBC player) and given to Ken Mason. If dishes are not completed during the break, the inside duty team will need to finish at the end of the day.

Many hands make light work! - It's a club effort! It is not too late to volunteer if you are not playing on a Saturday - please get in touch with Anne O'Dea. The more volunteers we have, the fewer times you'll be rostered on.
