Happy Hour Drinks and Nibbles Plus Indoor Bowls

A great success enjoyed by 24 bowlers and an enthusiastic group of supporters who naturally couldn’t resist offering lots of free tips!

The evening began with a pregame warm-up of drinks and pizza. Heather Lynch welcomed us and provided a brief history of the game. She thanked Joan for her work in the kitchen and Pramila for ordering and collecting the pizzas. Kevin Gilbert assisted Ken during the happy hour. Once bowling was underway, Pip managed the bar to ensure everyone remained well hydrated.

After 3 closely fought games, the winners were Ulli, Jan, Tania and Mary while Heather, Mike, Leonie and Liz happily settled for the final place.

That’s a wrap for Indoor Bias Bowls for another year. Carpets are now resting in the shed. Maybe next year we could have a season opener.

Winter Social Bowls

Another successful Winter Social Bowls season concludes on Thursday 29th August and Saturday 31st August. To be booked out on many Thursdays and Saturdays can be attributed to the organisers, a friendly welcome by members and ongoing support as a result from a range of local clubs.

Comments from bowlers from visiting bowlers such as “this is the best artificial surface in Adelaide” “friendly welcoming club” certainly does our reputation no harm. All positive for our club.

Thank you to coordinators for both days. Allan Wilkins for getting us underway on Thursdays and Tania Lewis for taking over during the season. Thank you to David Freeman and Ryan Wilkins for Saturdays. Thank you to John Butterworth who was ever present with hot pies and pasties.

Note that we move straight into preseason training and trials following the final week of Winter Social bowls.

Coaching

On the back of a very successful season we are intent on building on our success through building up our coaching panel to support all our players.

To this end there is a meeting for all current accredited coaches, mentors and aspiring coaches on Thursday 15th August at the club 10-11.30am. At this meeting we will plan for the season ahead and build a consistent approach to our player support.

If you are interested in finding out more about this meeting or attending, please contact Greg Miller on 0409 880 356 or greg.miller995@gmail.com

Becoming a coach is a great way to find out how to improve your own bowling skill as well as supporting other club members.

See you there!
